FAQ

Will Martial Arts make my child more aggressive or prone to trouble?
No - it will not!  Confident people make confident, well-informed and rational decisions.  If your child is ever confronted, he or she can have the confidence they need to be cool-headed and in control.  Martial Arts is not about violence; martial arts is about self-control.

How does Martial Arts compare to other activities and sports?
This question is fairly common, as most people have had experience in baseball, football, and soccer.  Team sports are wonderful, we all enjoy them and they are necessary for proper development.  It is our opinion, however, that singular sports and activities are equally beneficial.  When belt testing in martial arts, it does not matter how your team did that day.  It's all about your child pushing themselves to a higher level of coordination and finesse.

How much time does it take?
Most classes are available 4 days a week.  Your child can attend as few as two, or as many as four, depending on their belt level.  One of the wonderful benefits of Hapkido over team-oriented sports is that you are rarely, if ever, locked down to a specific place or time where you must be there.  Since Hapkido is a more individual activity, you have much more freedom when it comes to class attendance.  For most students, however, we feel that at least two classes a week is necessary.

My child has had difficulties in school, in concentration and completing task.
Sometimes a fitness regimen is just what we need to get us back on track and focused.  Our warm-ups and workouts are great stress-relievers.  We have always placed a high value on academic achievement with "homework cards" and awards for academic excellence.  Sometimes knowing that you'll receive recognition for going the extra mile can be just the motivation that's needed.

My child is home-schooled.  Will Global Hapkido count toward the physical fitness requirements?
Yes, it certainly will.  We have several home-schoolers who are currently enrolled and they have all been fantastic students.  The fitness and socialization benefits to home-schoolers are something that any home-schooler parent should consider.

Will my child get hurt at Global Martial Arts?
Our safety record is far better than virtually any other sport your child can engage in.  All activities are closely monitored and when we do engage in close-contact activities, all participants must wear protective gear. Some of the many skills we teach are wise methods of falling and rolling.  These are essential skills which will last a lifetime.
