As a military child overseas, I learned to box and wrestle almost daily with a little Jujutsu.  In 1968-69, while providing protection to MACV convoys in Viet Nam, I was taught military-style Tae Kwon Do by the Korean Tiger Division Military personnel assigned to our unit.

In the late 1970's, I started studying Aikido at the University of Montana.  I have attended many seminars and classes in Hap Ki Do - (Dr. He Young Kimm, Grandmaster J.R. West, Master J. Borucki), in Aikido (YoshinKan and Tomoki styles), in Jeet Kune Do (Guru Dan Inosanto), and in Isshin Ryu (Master Thomas Kellogg).

In 1996, I discovered a style which provides a well-balanced blend of Daito Ryu AikiJujutsu and Tae Kwon Do and also incorporated many other techniques to deal with our modern world.  This martial arts style is Hap Ki Do.

On the 29th of Oct. 1999, I received my 1st Dan Black Belt in Hap Ki Do.  I've since earned my 2nd Dan and continue to learn and teach at Global Martial Arts Academy.
